Food- 52 Weeks of Gratefulness

There are so many things we take for granted in our lives. Things that are so necessary to our very survival become just part of our routine receiving hardly any thought let only appreciation. One of these every day items is FOOD!

Grateful for Food | 52 Weeks of Gratefulness

I mean clearly, we can’t live without the stuff and yet you hear people complain nearly every day about their food choices and options. We kind of sound like spoiled brats. I mean when did this food stuff move from eat for survival to eat for pleasure?

I suppose it happens as society grows and wealth sets in. With wealth comes choices and so on and so forth. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely LOVE food. I love making it for others and I love eating it. I especially love experiencing new cuisines during my travels. Croissants and fresh baguette in Paris, gelato and pizza in Italy and Dragon and Snake fruit in Ubud. I could go on and on.

It’s just that know that I have been thinking about food this week for this gratefulness challenge I am realizing how the focus is on pleasure and we often forget how lucky we are to have the stuff let alone be able to eat it in ways we find enjoyable.

Food I suppose does a lot for us. Not only does it fuel us with energy and the needed nutrients to keep us alive but food also nourishes our souls. We cook together and we sit down to meals and gatherings and we EAT!

Personally, one of my favorite things to do is bake for someone I love. To delivery someone something I made from scratch that I know will make their day just a tad better is a huge serotonin boost for me.

So, after much thought I can say I am quite grateful we have food in our lives. That is is plentiful enough that we actually have choices. And, that it not only nourishes our bodies but that it brings us closer to our friends and family as well.
