hello,

Planning a trip to Scotland and need a kid-friendly hotel that will work for adults too? The Ness Walk hotel is the place for you. It has all the luxurious amenities of a large hotel brand. However, it’s nestled in the hills of Scotland so you can still enjoy the tranquility and peace of the countryside. Although you’d never know from looking at it, the town of Inverness is just a short distance away. It’s close enough to walk and grab food and explore the town, but not so far that the kids will complain about the walk. The Ness Walk hotel really has everything you need for the perfect family trip to Scotland.

Ness Walk [A Luxurious Scotland Hotel!]

Details & Location

Ness Walk shares an owner with the Kingsmill Hotel in Inverness, and the luxurious details from the Kingsmill certainly transfer over to the Ness. And yet it’s not so fancy that you should feel guilty about bringing young kids there; in fact, the staff loves children and they go out of their way to make sure families feel welcome. Ness Walk also has something the Kingsmill Hotel doesn’t- access to nature. The Kingsmill is located directly in the town of Inverness, whereas Ness Walk was built right on the River Ness. The views from the hotel are incredible, and the kids will love exploring the lush green scenery right outside your door. The River Ness is over 12 miles long, and it’s one of the most-walked family attractions in Inverness.

Rooms and Accommodations

Huge picture windows grace the walls of the Ness Walk to make it easy to appreciate the stunning landscape. The dining room showcases a giant window. This means you can sip coffee and enjoy a meal while staring at the stunning scenery of the Highlands. The rooms themselves are huge compared to European standards- they feature giant king beds and a spacious sitting area. The Cedar Rooms even have a private terrace for guests to enjoy.

There’s no such thing as cramming in this hotel. The rooms have more than enough space to accommodate families AND the large number of things they travel with (because there’s no such thing as traveling light when you have kids!) Forget something? Just let the staff at the Ness know. They’ll do their best to get whatever it is you need. Plus, if they can’t help you out chances are you can find whatever you need in Inverness.

A Place for Afternoon Tea or a Bite

The Ness Walk hotel also features excellent traditional Scottish cuisine in their restaurant, the Torrish. The view is spectacular, the stone fireplace makes the setting extra cozy, and the food is amazing. Chef Craig Douglas takes care to curate a menu of Scottish foods with a worldly twist. He uses locally sourced ingredients grown on the grounds of the Ness hotel whenever possible. While the dinner menu might not be suitable for children (unless they have an eclectic palette!) they do have an incredible dessert menu that anyone would love, regardless of age. Additionally, they offer an afternoon tea with an assortment of fun snacks. Their bar menu even lists some fun “mocktails” that kids can sip on while the adults enjoy their own yummy cocktails.

Family Fun at the Ness Walk

In addition to the River Ness, Inverness has a lot of attractions that are fun for families. Have a picnic at Fort George and learn about the history of the fort that dates all the way back to 1727. The Inverness Botanical Gardens are always a huge hit; adults can relax by the fountain and appreciate the stunning architecture while the kids explore the maze! The Eden Court Theatre is perfect for anyone looking to take in a play or a ballet, and they have on-site dining as well. Travelers who go in the winter might even get lucky enough to see their infamous Christmas pantomime! Whether you’re seeking history or nature, or you just want to have some fun, there’s plenty for the whole family to do in Scotland.
