It appeared Maui was as sad to see us go as we were to leave because we woke up to a gray and rainy day. We ate breakfast and then it was time to leave. We breezed through the airport and got to our gate only to find out our flight was delayed. No big… worked out well because our neices were arriving at the same airport and we were able to see them or a few minutes. We boarded our flight and got cozy… but then we were delayed on the runway. Once in the air it was a pretty smooth flight. The flight is only about 30 minutes so its easy peasy. But, after landing we were held up once again and had to taxi for awhile waiting for a gate. It’s never fun to have delays… especially with a 2 year old. But, eventually we were able to get off the plane and see Kauai. Although, we couldn’t see much because it was pouring rain. We made it over to our rental car. Alamo has an amazing service where you go directly to your car upon arrival. It’s so easy. You just go down the lane of cars in the size you chose, pick one, get in and hand the check out person your documents as you drive out. I won’t use any one else now that we’ve used this service a few times. Not having to wait in the huge rental car line is a big win for us. We drove in the rain and found a delicious lunch at Merriman’s Pizza Burgers. Kauai is absolutely gorgeous and incredibly green. It looks a lot different than Maui which is surprising since they are so close to each other. After lunch we drove over to our villa. It was raining and I was super thankful that there is no check in. The Villas at Poipu Kai had emailed me my check in documents with our villa number and passcode to get in. We opened the door and immediately fell in love. I declared we should move. The villa is laid out so well. There are three large bedrooms, one is a master with gorgeous bathroom and a beautiful porcelain tub. Then there is a junior suite which has its own bathroom as well. Lastly, the third bedroom has two twin beds- perfect for the kids. There is a shared bathroom in the hall between the junior suite and bedroom 3… all the bathrooms have gorgeous tiled walk in showers. They came with amenities like towels, toilet paper, toiletries and orchids as decoration. Then there is the kitchen. I am in love with the kitchen. It has everything you need blenders, toaster, coffee maker. All the plates, silverware, detergents etc… and its stunning. The attention to detail is amazing from the bamboo drawer pulls to the wood plated refrigerator and dishwasher… I could go on and on about this kitchen. The living room has a large flatscreen tv and comfy couch and if you continue on you find yourself on the massive lanai (it also connects to the master bedroom). So, as you can easily imagine… once you are here you don’t want to leave… EVER!
