I am always looking for reasons to celebrate every day because life is too short not too! This past weekend we visited Red Lobster’s Lobsterfest because the boys’ sports schedule started cutting into my our regular date nights. So, we decided to create a family date night to celebrate the boys’ games each Friday night instead. We are big seafood lovers so Red Lobster was an easy choice that made everyone happy!
Incredible Family Date Night at Red Lobster’s Lobsterfest!
What is Lobsterfest?
What is Lobsterfest you ask? Well, for a limited time only Red Lobster hosts a special event celebrating everything lobster. In fact, it is the largest variety of lobster dishes offered all year! During Lobsterfest, you can choose from nine spectacular lobster dishes (some new and others are Red Lobster classics. Whether you like your lobster grilled, baked, steamed, topped or tossed in a delicious pasta they have a lobster dish for you!
Red Lobster also has something for every person in your family including a fantastic kids menu with options like garlic-grilled shrimp, broiled fresh tilapia, petite lobster roll and classic kid’s dishes like mac & cheese and chicken strips too!
Of, course the ever popular unlimited cheddar bay biscuits are always a crowd pleaser too!! They are soooo darn delicious you really can’t help but gobble one up. Or two or three if you are a growing kid- ha!!
During Red Lobster’s Lobsterfest not only do they have an amazing selection of entrees that feature lobster but they also have some wonderful appetizers and cocktails as well. Our favorite appetizer is the NEW Chilled Lobster and Shrimp Cocktail. It features chilled petite Maine lobster tails plus delicious jumbo shrimp served with Red Lobster’s signature cocktail sauce.
Seriously, it’s worth taking a second look. It was seriously that good!!! I really enjoyed dipping the seafood into the cocktail sauce but my son claims the butter sauce is the better choice. I guess you will have to try it out and report back to me on your thoughts.
I always like to order a tasty Caesar salad at Red Lobster to accompany my meal. I think it pairs perfectly with a warm cheddar bay biscuit! Are you a salad eater?
Why a Family Date Night?
Although I really love to spend time with my husband sans the kiddos it isn’t always possible due to our demanding schedule. That said I really enjoyed including our kids in a special family date night out. It’s something we don’t do nearly enough and we all had a great time relaxing and chit-chatting over a delicious meal. Plus, no cooking or cleaning for me was a major bonus!!
Another reason that Red Lobster was such a great choice for us was the great service we received. Our server, Renee, at the Red Lobster in Temecula was super accommodating. She made sure that our youngest, Olivia felt included in the conversations and she also made sure Olivia’s chicken strips came out quickly. I think Liv’s smile is a good indicator of how much fun she had… sooo cute!!!
Our Favorite Lobsterfest Menu Items
Celebrating game night as a family meant our boys needed to fuel up. No better way to get your protein in than by ordering not one but two lobster tails- ha!! That is exactly what Owen did. He recently was awarded honor roll at school so we let him celebrate by allowing him to order the Lobsterfest’s Lobster Lover’s Dream®. Which was a succulently roasted rock lobster tail and a sweet Maine lobster tail, steamed and served with lobster and shrimp linguini alfredo.
I opted to share the Lobster and Langostino Pizza with Maine and langostino lobster meat, melted mozzarella, fresh tomatoes and sweet basil as an appetizer. I also ordered the NEW Lobster Truffle Mac & Cheese which featured Maine and langostino lobster tossed with cavatappi pasta in a cheesy truffle lobster cream, topped with toasted Parmesan panko crumb which was incredibly rich and delicious! Of course, no celebration is complete without a little dessert, that is what Miss Ella said so we shared a few desserts as well!
Next time, Mike and I visit without the kids I want to try the Lobster Lover’s Punch with Captain Morgan®, Bacardi® and Malibu® rum, shaken with berry and pineapple juice. Doesn’t that sound refreshing? It is served in a beautiful 50th Anniversary collectible glass, which is also available for purchase too.
Being seafood lovers we also appreciate Red Lobster ensuring that they source their seafood in a manner that is traceable, sustainable, and responsible too. This ensures that a healthy seafood supply exists now and for generations to come. That way our children will be able to appreciate seafood just as we have.
You can find additional information about Red Lobster’s souring commitments on its lobster tanks as well as it’s menus. It also makes a great conversation starter with the kids about the importance of sustainability. Sustainability actually moves beyond the seafood and also applies to the generations of lobster fisherman as well. Lobster fishing is a way of life for many coastal communities. It is often a generational occupation passed down through generations. Red Lobster is proud to support the men and women in these communities who fish responsibly and sustainably. To learn more about lobster sustainability from some of the trusted fishermen who’ve provided lobster to Red Lobster for generations, check out the video below.
