As a big family with lots of kids, we are always on the search for the best healthy snacks on the go. I look for products that are not only better for my kids than most snack foods but ones that also taste good too because I want to teach them that eating healthy can be fun. Another thing I look for is snacks that are portable so they can easily be thrown in a bag as we rush out the door. Today I am sharing some of our favorite on the go healthy snack ideas to help you fuel your busy family too!
Healthy Snacks On The Go [easy snacks kids will love]
If you have followed us for awhile you know we have several huge Star Wars fans in the family which brings me to my first point. If you can find better-for-you snack companies that have paired with brands you kids love (hint- Disney has done a great job at this) purchase those snacks!! Those cute characters on the packaging will help secure a win with your munchkins.
Just like these popchips Star Wars Galaxy Puffs! Not only are they popped into fun-to-eat Star Wars character shapes but they are also never fried, non-gmo, and gluten-free. Plus, they are made with real aged white cheddar too. Warning- you may not want to share these with your kids after you try them because they are DELICIOUS!!
My son also discovered that each bag of popchips Star Wars Galaxy Puffs also has a mystery shape inside. Kids love the anticipation of the unknown and mine had a blast trying to find it. I would tell you what they found but I don’t want to ruin any surprises.
As obvious as this might seem fruit is one healthy option I used to forget was portable. It even comes in its own biodegradable packaging. My munchkins love grabbing apples, bananas, oranges, kiwi, plums, pears and clementines. All of which are perfect for on the go.
Nuts are another awesome snack for kids. They can be pricey so I like to buy a big jar and then have the kids separate them into snack bags for easy on the go access. It’s amazing how eager your kids are to help with silly house chores like that when earning more screen time is the reward- ha!
Another great option is granola bars. I always look for brands with less than 10 grams of sugar and the least amount of ingredients. We have even made our own on occasion.
BONUS TIP- How to Organize Your Healthy On The Go Snacks
In order for me to make things simple for my kids, and to somewhat control what they are eating I installed these cute hanging baskets on the inside of our pantry door. I load the baskets with healthy snacks and the kids all know where they are located. These snacks are always available and its super easy for the kids to grab something as they are running out the door.
*I found the Popchips Star Wars Galaxy Puffs at my local Albertsons. You can find them where chips and bagged popcorn are sold inside a store near you too!
