As much as we love to travel, we also try to create fond memories while we are at home. One of the munchkins favorite things to do is snuggle up to a good movie. Their dad is a jokester so they definitely veer towards movies that make them laugh which is one reason they are anxiously waiting for the NEW “Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie” DVD to come out. To help get your kids excited about the new release try this fun and simple DIY Popcorn Station. Kids love getting to create their own popcorn mix and mom’s love that its a snap to put together.
Simple DIY Movie Night Popcorn Station Ideas
What I love about a DIY Popcorn Station is the fact that it is super easy to throw together and kids absolutely LOVE it! You start with some microwave popcorn, my kids love Pop Secret because of its great butter taste. Then I like to include a good mix of sweet & salty snacks as add-ins. Check out my list of ideas below for some inspiration for your next family movie night popcorn station. *Tip- I found everything for our Popcorn Station at Walmart.

I love how something so simple like microwaving some Pop Secret Popcorn can add so much FUN to your night. It’s a great way to celebrate life’s simple joys with family and friends.
Of course, the add-in’s for the Popcorn Station definitely boost the level of excitement because kids love to create their own special popcorn mix. As a mom, I am always looking for ways to make things a tad healthier which is why I was so happy to find out that Lance uses real peanut butter or real cheese between crispy baked crackers, they are also free of high fructose corn syrup, and they pack up to 5 grams of protein meaning the kids will fill up quicker and stay full longer!
And, since Lance comes in a variety of flavorful options they are always a crowd pleaser. In our family, Ella always goes for the cheese flavor while Shea prefers the adding the peanut butter crackers to his mix. *Tip- Lance’s cracker sandwich packs are wholesome and portable so save extras to add to school lunches.
Now that we’ve got our Popcorn Station all figured out we can’t wait to get our hands on the Captain Underpant’s DVD. My boys loved reading the popular book series by Dav Pilkey that the movie is based on. Not surprising as it’s full of cheeky potty humor which my boys are BIG fans of (what boy isn’t, right?).
But, what I love about the film that it is full of heart. From the great friendship between Harold and George to the lessons in empathy for others that the boys end up learning. I also love that the boys choose to express themselves through writing and creativity. I am always trying to encourage my own kids to get off their screens and spend more time doing something creative. And, my husband liked that the film featured some pretty incredible talent including Kevin Hart (George) and Ed Helms (Underpants and Krupp).
Take a peek at the trailer below:
The DVD is going to be available at Walmart starting on September 12th. Be sure to reserve your copy now by pre-ordering today! While supplies last.

This is such a fun idea! I bet my boys would love to do this one night!
Give it a try, I bet they will love it!
It’s so true food stations and bars are one of the few ways you can actually make everyone happy when it comes to food. Nachos is a great idea, especially with football coming up.
It really adds an element of fun. We’ve done smores and a candy bar before too. The kids love them all 🙂
It’s so easy to throw together I think it’s one I will stay stocked on that way when friends end up sleeping over we don’t have to run out and get something to make it fun. Easy peasy.
This looks delicious, so many great options will have to try!
I hope you give it a try. It’s tasty!
What a fun idea!
I can’t wiat to do this for our next family movie night.

I didn’t think about savory options. Yum!
I love adding M&Ms to my popcorn, but I never thought to add all these other snacks! I cannot imagine how incredible chopped peanut butter cups would taste tossed with the popcorn. I am drooling just thinking about it!
They were pretty tasty, you’ll have to give it a try sometime 🙂
What a fun thing to do for a family movie night! Especially as we head in to fall and the kids are heading back to school and temperatures will start dropping.
So glad you liked it. My kids had a blast!
