5 Romantic At-Home Date Ideas- super easy and sweet

If you love barbecuing as much as most people, you will want to share it with the person you love. The most romantic dates are the ones that happen at home, so why not include the food you love with the person you love (or care about a lot)?
In the hustle and bustle, we call life, it is all too easy to neglect the person we’re in a relationship with. Between kids and full-time jobs, many couples are only together for ten hours per day and half of those are spent sleeping.
Date night is a simple idea of creating a night to focus solely on the two of you and reconnect. It certainly spices things up if you throw some heat into the mix. Here are 5 great at-home date ideas.

1) The Picnic

The rustic, quaint picnic heightens the regular barbecue to the romantic plane. The adorable picnic basket and the checkered blanket invoke the feeling of a simpler time. The mood is even better if you have a yard or balcony where you and your date can stargaze.
A picnic barbecue date requires a down-home menu of barbecue chicken, grilled corn on the cob, and favored side dishes like potato salad and deviled eggs. For dessert, try strawberry shortcake. Be sure to grill the strawberries for a tasty twist.
2) BBQ and a Movie
Fancy restaurants and a movie are so overdone. Give BBQ and a movie a try. Let your date pick the movie and you can be in charge of the grilling. Regardless of whether the movie is a chick flick or action movie, the BBQ will be the real star.
The menu should consist of finger foods you can eat in the dark while watching a movie. Hot dogs or corn dogs are a great start, as are chicken and vegetable kabobs. You can even make a pizza on the grill. For dessert, grill up some cornbread with honey for your Honey.
3) At-home camping

Besides you and your date, what goes together better than camping and barbecue? Camping in your own backyard. If you don’t have a backyard, make your living room work for some indoor camping.
Camping is sleeping bags under the star-filled sky and telling stories over the fire. How convenient – you can use the fire to cook dinner, too!
For camping menus, you can’t go wrong with burgers. Don’t forget the marshmallows for toasting over the fire. Add some chocolate and graham crackers, and you’re ready for s’mores!
4) Just Dessert- who says at home date ideas can’t be sweet?

Maybe your date doesn’t want a BBQ dinner. You might be re-thinking your relationship if that’s the case, but let your date pick the main course and don’t stress — you can still get your BBQ on with dessert.
For BBQ dessert menus, try grilled peaches with bourbon sauce, grilled banana boats or grilled donuts. Of course, there are the classics already mentioned – toasted marshmallow and s’mores.
5) Invite Your Friends- a twist on the classic at home date ideas

Sure, date night is supposed to be focusing on your and your date, but when it comes to BBQ, the more, the merrier. Get your friends to bring a date and it will be couples’ date night. Have everyone bring a potluck side dish to share.
For your part of the menu, grill up some ribs or steaks. Some traditional side dish ideas are macaroni salad, baked beans, and salt potatoes.
Eternal Flame
Food is only a minor component of a successful date night. Set the music low and the lights even lower.
Having a romantic date night lets you get all dressed up with nowhere to go. The familiar atmosphere allows you and your date to relax and have fun where you are most comfortable. Your date will never know that BBQ will always be your first love.
