There’s something irresistible about a fruity iced drink on a hot summer day. Starbucks has a colorful drink to cater to any craving, and their iconic Pink Drink is no exception. But rather than spending a few dollars at Starbucks every day, why not try making the Pink Drink, or the new Ombre Matcha Tea Pink Drink, from the comfort of your home for way less than the coffeehouse version?
The original Pink Drink has a fan following, and it’s pretty clear why- the refreshing blend of Strawberry Acai and coconut milk can be pretty addictive! With the recent addition of matcha tea for a spin on the strawberry classic, you can get your green tea fix too. Check out our other favorite Starbucks summer drink recipes too, Starbucks Strawberry Acai & Starbucks Passionfruit Guava Drink.
When making the Pink Drink at Starbucks, baristas use a pre-mixed juice/tea blend, sweetened coconut milk, and berries. While you won’t have access to the exact juice blends that the coffee chain uses, you can recreate the flavor with a few pre-made ingredients available at most grocery stores.
When you recreate the drink at home, you can also control the ingredients, allowing you to customize the sugars and fat content as well as alter the flavors to your taste. Plus, you’ll be saving money at the same time!
(Side note: when ordering this drink at Starbucks, most baristas will know the “Pink Drink” nickname refers to this secret menu item. To be clear and not wind up with a grumpy barista or the wrong drink, be sure to order a Strawberry Acai Refresher with coconut milk.)
How to Make Starbucks Pink Drink
We have dubbed ourselves the masters of Starbucks recreations from home. Trust us, once you check out our masterpieces like the Iced Guava Passionfruit Drink or our Java Chip Frappuccino you will see why. Below you will see our Copycat Starbucks Pink Drink along with a healthier version and a matcha version. They are all equally refreshing and delicious!
The Copycat Recipe
This recipe is about as close as you can get to making this drink in your own kitchen, which is why you’ll need to purchase some of the premade mixes to imitate the products Starbucks baristas use when making the drink.
Ingredients
- 1 cup sweetened coconut milk, full fat
- 1.5 cups cold water
- 1 instant Very Berry Hibiscus refresher powder mix-in (can be found here or at some grocery stores)
- 1 cup Tazo iced passion tea (can be found here or at some grocery stores)
- Ice
- 1/3 cup sliced strawberries
Steps
1: Combine 1.5 cups of water with the refresher mix in.
2: Add Tazo tea, stir well to combine.
3: Fill 20 oz. or larger cup with ice. Fill halfway with tea/refresher blend, then add coconut milk and top with sliced strawberries. Stir to combine. Enjoy!

Healthier Starbucks Pink Drink Recipe
The biggest culprit in the Pink Drink that makes it “unhealthy” is the added sugars. This is due in part to the use of pre-made tea blends, as well as pre-sweetened coconut milk.
There is also tons of added sugar in the Tazo tea blends, so brewing your own unsweetened tea cuts some sugars as well. Of course, Starbucks drinks are made very sweet, so this won’t taste like the original unless you add in a sweetener, like monkfruit.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk, low-fat or nonfat
- 1 instant Very Berry Hibiscus refresher powder mix-in
- 4 acai berry tea bags
- 1.5 cups cold water
- Ice
- 1/3 cup sliced strawberries
- Optional: agave or monkfruit sweeteners (i substitute monkfruit for pretty much every one of my sugary recipes)
Steps
1: Combine 1.5 cups water with the refresher mix in.
2: Steep acai berry tea. Allow to cool, and add 1 cup of the brewed tea into the refresher blend. Stir well to combine.
3: Fill 20 oz. or larger cup with ice. Fill halfway with tea/refresher blend, then add coconut milk and top with sliced strawberries. Stir to combine. Enjoy!
Optional: add agave or other natural sweeteners to taste.
