Ah, character breakfasts, as my kids get older, it seems like we go to less and less which makes me a bit sad. However, there are certain character breakfasts that the kids still love. One of our favorite places to grab breakfast in Disney World is ‘Ohana, which is located in the Polynesian Resort (one of our favorite Disney Deluxe resorts). We have been going ever since our kids were little babies. Not only is the food delicious, but you will get to hang with some of your favorite pals; Lilo, Stitch, Mickey and more. We have gathered all the details below about one of our favorite Disney character dining experiences, from making reservations to what will be on your plate.
The Ohana Breakfast Experience
We love the laid back, aloha spirit at the Polynesian Village Resort and you will definitely feel this throughout your character breakfast as well. Our family has typically received outstanding customer service from the cast members at this resort, and they really will go out of their way to help you feel the magic.
Lilo & Stitch is one of the most beloved Disney movies, and I can’t even tell you how many times my kids have watched it. However, the movie is a bit older so I wouldn’t be surprised if some of your little ones haven’t seen it! I would highly recommend watching it as a family before your visit to get you in the spirit. This way seeing Lilo and Stitch will be extra special and everyone will be ready to jump up and dance along when Hawaiin Rollercoaster Ride starts to play.
What You Will Eat
At Ohana, you will have a typical American breakfast with some delicious Polynesian twists. Best of all, this feast is served family-style meaning you can eat as much or as little as you like. Everything comes served together in a big skillet, so there will be no waiting in buffet lines at this breakfast. When you finish one-skillet full, you can have another brought over! I love that this means you are getting a fresh, hot serving for your second round.
- The Famous Pineapple Bread
- Mickey Waffles (no breakfast is complete without them in Disney World!)
- Scrambled Eggs
- Island Style Fried Potatoes
- Bacon
- Hawaiian Pork Sausages
- Hawaiin Style Ham with Pineapple
- Fresh Fruit
- Assorted Bread
Complimentary drinks (POG juice (Passion Orange Guava), soft drinks, teas, sodas, and coffee) will be served. As for mom and dad, you can kick your breakfast up a notch with a specialty drink like a mimosa or Bloody Mary. They also have some more unique options on the menu like The Polynesian Red Eye, a mix of coconut rum, POG juice, and grenadine. If you feel like splurging on your littles, there are non-alcoholic specialty drinks as well.
Dietary Restrictions
If you have any dietary restrictions, Disney is always on top of it and Ohana is no exception. I have to watch my cholesterol so they whipped me up my own special egg white omelet and brought out some delicious oatmeal. My nephew had a nut allergy, and the manager came out to detail everything that was safe to eat. It is really nice to have that kind of service.
The Characters You Will See
The Disney characters who make appearances at Ohana vary, however, you can pretty much count on seeing Lilo and Stitch as this is basically their stomping ground. Because Lilo and Stitch are not in the parks that often anymore, this is probably your best chance of seeing them! You also might see Mickey Mouse, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, or any of your other favorites.
You will get to snap photos of plenty of sweet moments between your little ones and the characters. They will also do a parade around the restaurant (maracas and lots of shouting involved). All my kids absolutely love this chance to move around and get wild at breakfast. As for the parents, you can’t beat having the characters come to you as you get to sit and enjoy a nice breakfast.
Of course, food is an important part of your dining experience but keep in mind this is really about the experience and the atmosphere. Let your kiddos go wild and have a great time, that’s why you are at these magical parks in the first place!
Booking Breakfast at Ohana
As with most Disney dining experiences, you are going to want to book your Ohana breakfast in advance. There is a chance you will be able to walk up and snag a last-minute reservation, but I definitely would not count on it. You can book dining reservations online 180 days out beginning at 9 am eastern time if you are staying at one of the Disney World Resorts.
Dinner reservations are typically harder to snag (and don’t have characters), so prioritize those but do make sure to get the Ohana breakfast booked far in advance if it’s something your family would really like to do.
Planning Your Breakfast at Ohana
First things first, Ohana has slots for breakfast from 7:30 am to noon. This means whether you are an early riser, like us, or planning to sleep in on your vacation you can still hit Ohana for breakfast. We like to plan our character breakfasts for slower days or days when we have FastPass reservations later in the day.
This way you are not rushing out of breakfast and can fill up on all their delicious food without having to worry about getting on any rollercoasters in the near future.
***Pro Tip*** It is fairly easy to get to the Magic Kingdom from the Polynesian Resort. If you do plan on heading straight to a park after breakfast this would be your best choice.
Lastly, you can come dressed as casual or nice as you prefer but we love getting decked out in some Hawaiin gear. You will fit right in if you arrive in Hawaiin shirts and sundresses.
Pricing:
The prices for character breakfasts do vary, but here is an idea of what you should budget for.
Adults: $25 + Tax & gratuity
Children (3-9): $14 + Tax & gratuity
Children Under 3: Free
Check-In
If you are new to character breakfasts, don’t worry. We’ve got your back! As soon as you arrive, send one member of your party to the check-in line. The rest of you can hop in line for a photo opp or enjoy a stroll around the resort. The check-in process is much more relaxing this way, especially with little ones who are excited. Plus, this is a character photo you don’t want to miss since they will be decked out in their beach gear and leis.
Aloha!
We hope to see you around at our next Ohana character breakfast, and if you need any help planning the rest of your Disney World vacation be sure to reach out! We have plenty of resources we can direct you towards and love to answer questions about our favorite place.
