I have dreamt of a gorgeous white kitchen for years. I have pinned them, followed hashtags on Instagram and tore out pieces of magazines trying to prepare for the day I could actually build the kitchen of my dreams. The funny thing is I never thought it would come to fruition. After nearly 16 years of hard work I finally was able to make my dream a reality. As the kitchen construction concluded I knew I needed a plan to help keep it looking great. I needed organization!
Amazing Kitchen Organization Thanks to The Container Store
This post is in partnership with The Container Store. My obsession with their products and service is 100% my own.
My 3 Best Tips For Organizing Your Kitchen
I find so much peace in my rather chaotic life as a mother of five/ busy entrepreneur when things are organized. When everything has a place and the family knows where everything goes it saves me from answering countless questions like what can I eat, we have nothing in the house- I’m starving etc… It also helps to maximize your space and with a crowded home I needed it. Which is why I was so excited to partner with The Container Store to completely organize my kitchen. Their helpful staff taught me so much and so today I want to share some of their tips with you.
1 Save time and have the helpful staff at The Container Store help you get organized
One thing that I initially screwed up on was not realizing all of the services that The Container Store offered to help individuals organize their problem areas. I spent hours (okay, maybe days) trying to figure out what bins I needed. I was measuring and then going online to look up all the different measurements, I had spreadsheets and penciled in notes- it was a mess!
I actually talked about it on my Instagram story when I received a DM from a follower who happened to have worked at The Container Store (TCS) in the past and she mentioned that if I took pictures and brought in measurements the staff at TCS would be happy to help me. She also noted that they do not work off commission 🙂
So, I trotted off to the store with my notes, spreadsheets and some photos I took on my phone and voila! The staff at The Container Store did exactly as promised and they helped me organize my spaces. They offered so much support, it was great.
2 Clear Bins Rock!!
There are plenty of organizational bins and baskets, but speaking from experience the clear bins have been the best for a large family. It comes down to the fact that you can see exactly what is inside of them. And, they look super clean too! We used the InterDesign Linus Clear Bins in our fridge, freezer, and pantry. I also love that they are multi-purpose so that we can interchange them as we need.
One thing that we did that has been super helpful is to create bins for items that are commonly used together. For us that included a bin that houses all of our sandwich condiments (mayos, mustards, pickles) and another for morning bagels (bagels, nut butter, cream cheese, and jelly). The kids can quickly and easily get what they need and everyone can find it again the next time.
As you can see we even lined our crisping drawers with the Linus bins a super smart move bc if something creates a mess it stays contained. It makes me so happy!
Same with the freezer which has helped the kids find quick breakfasts and lunches without having to bother me.
A few products that I debated but totally think are worthwhile now are the clear egg cartons and the Chill Bill Refrigerator Deodorizer. I cannot believe how many more eggs are eaten in my house- which I love because our nutritionist is always touting how healthy they are. Initially, I was nervous about keeping track of dates. But, I purchased these erasable food labels and we’ve had zero issues.
3 Make the kids’ snacks easy to reach so they can help themselves
With five active kids (3 of whom are teen boys) the snack situation needed help and BAD!
I needed an easy spot that was accessible to even my youngest so they could grab & go while running out the door because, let’s be honest, we are always running a few minutes behind. It was the clear InterDesign Linus Bins to the rescue again. Look at that drawer- doesn’t it make you smile?
I also used the OXO Good Grips 4.5 qt POP Cereal Dispensers to house our cereals. No more yelling at the kids about not closing the bags. Plus, it looks so much cleaner when all of the common products are decanted. I actually loved these so much I went back to The Container Store and bought more!
I used the smaller OXO Good Grips 3.4 qt POP Cereal Containers for our granola, oats, and muesli too! And, I am OBSESSED with the ProKeeper Baker’s Storage Set. If you love to bake you have to have this set. It comes with containers specifically for flour, sugar, powdered sugar, and brown sugar, plus two mini containers perfect for sprinkles. You can label them with these erasable food labels like I did or purchase these premade labels which are super cute too!
I still have a walk-in pantry to share with you. I am just waiting on the wallpaper to be installed and the door and trim to be painted. I think you will like some of the clever ways the staff at The Container Store helped me store all of my sauces, oils, protein powders and more!
